You need a Cemetery Salesperson Branch license to sell at more than one location. You must already have a Cemetery Salesperson license for your main cemetery.

You need a cemetery salesperson license if your main job is selling graves, crypts, or niches.

If you manage the cemetery, staff, or are on the Board of Trustees, you don't need this license. You can sell graves, crypts, or niches without it.

Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) licenses are required for any of your staff offering caregiving services. The State keeps a registry of all individuals who have completed their education and training programs.

You need a landscape architect license to practice landscape architecture and hold the title of “Landscape Architect” in the state.

Register your family daycare business with your local Child Care Resource and Referral Agency to ensure you’re in compliance with state rules and regulations and gain more credibility for your business.

You need a cigarette license to do either of the following in New Jersey:

• Sell cigarettes
• Own a vending machine with cigarettes
• Operate as a manufacturer sales representative

If you sell container e-liquid and plan to have more than 50% of your retail sales come from electronic smoking devices, related accessories, and/or liquid nicotine, you must apply for a Vapor Business License with the NJ Division of Taxation.

A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required to operate large, heavy, or specialized commercial vehicles. A business owner only needs a CDL if they themselves plan to drive these vehicles. Otherwise, it is their responsibility to make sure their drivers have CDLs.

The type of CDL needed depends on vehicle type and endorsement, which are as follows:

• Class A, for vehicles weighing 26,001 or more and towing a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
• Class B, for vehicles weighing 26,001 or more lbs that aren’t towing a heavy trailer.
• Class B or C with “P” Endorsement, for vehicles designed to transport 16 or more passengers.
• Class B or C with “S” Endorsement, for school buses used to transport students. School buses require both an “S” and “P” CDL endorsement.
• Class A, B, or C with “H” Endorsement, for vehicles transporting hazardous materials requiring placards
• Class A or B with “N” Endorsement, for vehicles carrying liquid cargo in large tanks.
• Class A with “T” Endorsement, for combination vehicles with two or more trailers.
• Class A or B with “X” Endorsement, for vehicles that require a combination of Hazmat (“H”) and Tanker (“N”) endorsements, such as fuel tankers and chemical transport trucks

• Endorsements (“P,” “S,” “H,” “T,” “X”) are only added to a CDL upon request and require that applicants pass additional knowledge and skills tests.

• You must apply for a CDL in person. Complete the appropriate form(s) and take them to any NJ MVC vehicle center (or complete the forms on site). Be sure to make an appointment online before showing up.

You need to get a commercial vehicle registration before you can legally operate your business.

The form can only be signed by an authorized official, like the owner, a partner, or an authorized representative.

You may be required to get a United States Department of Transportation (USDoT) number for your commercial vehicle if you are crossing state lines. Use the self-assessment tool to determine if you must complete this task.

Any commercial vehicle crossing state lines must register with the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDoT) to obtain a registration number.

You must register any commercial weighing or measuring devices you plan to use for your business. This includes scales, meters, and other weighing or measuring devices.
