New Required Postings for Businesses
All employers are required to display posters to employees and prospective employees that advise them of their civil rights under New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination and Family Leave Act.
Additionally, housing providers and places open to the public (sometimes called public accommodations or PPA) are required to display additional posters for patrons, prospective patrons, tenants and guests that advise them of their civil rights.
Posters used, printed, received or downloaded before August 1st, 2022 must be replaced with the current versions.
Failure to display the posters may expose you to fines up to $10,000.
Employers that do not have a physical space can satisfy the requirements by displaying the required posters on an internet site or intranet site which is frequented by all of your employees, to which all employees have access, and where you customarily display notices to employees.
Business Requirements and Resources
If you operate a place of employment you are required by law to display the posters in an easily visible location. The posters must be visible to existing and prospective employees, tenants, patrons, customers, or patients. The following are required of all places of employment:
- All employers must post: Employment Poster
- Employers with 30 or more employees must also post: Family Leave Act poster
Employers may need to post additional posters if they fall into any of these categories:
- Public accommodations
- Housing providers
- Medical and healthcare facilities
If a business falls into multiple categories, it is required to display all applicable posters.

Example Scenario
For example, if you operated a business with 30 or more employees worldwide and the business is open to the public, you would be required to display:
- The public accommodations poster in a place that is easily visible to your patrons or prospective patrons
- The Family Leave Act poster and the employment poster in a place that is easily visible to your employees.
The posters need to be displayed on paper no smaller than 8½ by 11 inches with text that is fully legible and large enough to be read easily.
Employers are required to provide each employee with a written copy of the official Law Against Discrimination employment poster annually, on or before December 31st of each year or upon the first request of an employee. The written copy can be provided in at least three ways: email, printed material, or posting on the internet/intranet site. If posted on a site, the site is for the use of all employees, can be accessed by all employees, and the employer provides notice to the employees of its posting.
